As the Butterfly Garden Committee is busy with laying out plans to replant where needed, Zone Leaders are working hard to keep what we have maintained during this weedy season. One volunteer was determined to finish and got everything except about four feet at the base of the wall on the path before getting an urgent text. Buddlejas and taller shrubs are planned for the back of the fence row beds with shorter nectar and host plants in front and in the raised beds.
Young milkweed plants were located Saturday and thirty-six were planted around the garden. Everyone is encouraged to monitor new plantings and help us keep them watered regularly (and gently) for a few weeks. Some members are donating seedlings from their home gardens, which we appreciate so very much!
