Update on Garden

1/15/2014

As of dark today, the old "Muscle Man Workday" pile of mulch has been spread on all the beds in our garden.  Yeah!!!  A Friend of the Garden, Rolando gave an appreciated helping hand.

County staff replaced the electrical outlet plate and is in the process of clearing leaves from the garden paths.

Clean up following the freeze will require lots of clipping and lopering.  Small tools for clipping are lined up on the shelf to the left of the door in the shed.  Lopers for larger limbs are ready and waiting in the wagon.  The door should be drawn down during work sessions to protect contents.   The shed door lends itself to appearing to be locked when not due to the slide so please double check with a quick tug on the handle at the bottom of the door when finished with your work and locking the shed.  So far we have not had the problem of it being left unlocked and hopefully won't in the future if this small move becomes a habit.

Some plants may appear completely dead; however, nature is amazing and they may come back in spring.  Let's give them a chance instead of uprooting them where feasible.  Some of the very mature lantanas do need root removal where overgrowing the walls or irrigation system.

County people want us to pile large heaps of trimmings beside the trash can instead of in it to avoid overfill and they will pick it up behind us.
